Advisory Sessions
Advisory sessions allow clients to engage with Altimeter analysts on a specific issue around disruptive technologies. These sessions typically turn on existing or ongoing research which the analysts is doing. These advisory sessions can be done onsite with the client, in our offices in San Mateo, California, or over the phone. and range from as short as 30 minutes to a full day. Longer sessions typically include is a preparatory call to discuss needs and expectations.
Some examples of issues addressed in advisory sessions include the following:
- Regularly scheduled monthly or quarterly calls to check-in on the latest market development or issue the client may be facing.
- Ad hoc advisory call to discuss the latest market development.
- Product strategy review, licensing and pricing strategy, external and internal positioning.
- Market development and analysis.
Thought Leadership Speeches And Webinars
Organizations also engage Altimeter analysts to provide thought leadership on disruptive technologies in the form of in-person speeches and Webinars. Audiences and purposes range from internal teams and departments to customer and user conferences. While each of these thought leadership services can be one-time engagements, advisory clients often use their credits to as well, so as not to have to open another contract or invoice. Some examples include:
- Webinar for prospects and customers. Webinars can also include replay rights which allows companies to post the content on an internal or external site.

- Internal education. Audiences can also include internal audiences. For example, a large, multi-national company recently engaged Altimeter to participate in the ongoing training of all of its executive teams, specifically addressing how executives need to understand social technologies and incorporate it into not only their strategies but also their leadership styles. Research Projects
In some cases, clients may have a more complex or multi-phase project that requires a more formal scoping process, including definition of objectives and deliverables. Altimeter tends to focus on projects that leverages our existing and ongoing research, rather than one-off, highly customized consulting engagements.
