Jessica Groopman recently joined the Altimeter Group after spending more than three years as the manager of market research for Focus.com where she was responsible for end-to-end research design and delivery. Jessica specializes in business technology, but has published studies on an array of topics, from back-office management systems, to sales enablement and marketing strategies, to business sentiment surrounding economic pressures, and many more. While at Focus, she designed qualitative and quantitative methodologies to drive data-driven recommendations for client-sponsored studies, as well as spearheading a number of ongoing internal research initiatives. Results from Jessica’s surveys have appeared in a number of major news outlets, including USA Today, CNBC, Fox Business News, FastCompany, and more.
Prior to market research at Focus, Jessica’s research experience lies mostly in academic anthropological field work, specifically in ethnographic, linguistic, and archaeological research both here and abroad. She received her BS from Virginia Commonwealth University, as a double major in Anthropology and Spanish.
An East Coast native, Jessica now lives in the sunny East Bay and spends her weekends exploring the infinite treasures of the bay area. When she’s not researching technology and its (past, present, and future) impact on humans, she can be found playing drums in her band, riding her bike Aubergine, on a jog, nerding out on human evolution, or planning her next adventure.
