The graphic below shows how companies are formalizing, organizing, and growing their social media efforts. For example, three out of four large companies now have a dedicated social media team — and headcount in this team and across the enterprise have grown significantly since we began asking social strategists these questions in 2010.
Yet, when we asked the following three questions, the results weren’t as promising:
- How would you characterize where your organization is in its social business evolution?
- Are top executives informed, engaged, and aligned with your social strategy?
- Does your organization operate with a holistic social media approach: Where lines of business and business functions operate against an enterprise-level vision and strategy?
Companies are dedicating more effort and resources to their social business efforts, yet many still lack a strategic foundation to start from.
